Journey Back

Potomac Street Project Status

Potomac Street is arguably one of the most historic streets in America. The Engine House where John Brown took refuge was on Potomac Street. It was also the location of many large armory buildings which were the target of his raid. Today it is riddled with dumpsters, powerlines and crumbling sidewalks. The Foundation is pleased to announce that we have met our matching requirements for the $1.4 Mil Grant. Join us on October, 13th to celebrate this momentous occasion. Click here for more information. How Others Are Helping

  • Utilities are donating undergrounding of wires.
  • Businesses, organizations and individuals are making financial and Ňin kindÓ donations.
  • One individual has donated a challenge grant to match private donations 1 for 1 that total $15,000. However, this 1 for 1 match expires on June 15th.Since the 1 for 1 donationŐs will be used to meet the 20% match, it allows a donor to leverage a $100 tax deduction into what amounts to $1000 for the project.
The foundation is a volunteer organization with one part time paid director. We are very frugal, but need yearly memberships to pay our running expenses. Becoming a member allows us to continue our work. Like the other folks who are helping, take a form with you and designate a donation for the Potomac street project before June 15th. This will leverage it 1 for 1 and then 4 for 1 as a grant match donation. The foundation is a non-profit 501, c, 3 so donations are deductable. Click here to learn more, or make a donation.
